SAT Essay Course

The essay for the SAT is now an optional, 50 minute add-on at the end of the regular 3 hour test. The College Board also changed the format along with other changes for the new SAT, to focus more on analysis of a given viewpoint.

To help students tackle this new challenge, Crimson Review has created a new course that can be taken alone or in addition to our other SAT courses.

This course includes group instruction combined with 1-1 sessions, and includes scoring and feedback on 3 written essays as well as the following tools, strategies and insights.

What's Covered
  • How the new essay is scored, and how to score highly in each area.
  • Use of common rhetorical devices to improve content.
  • Outlining techniques
  • Proofreading to avoid common errors
  • ...and much, much more

ACT Essays

The ACT offers an optional, 40 minute essay at the end of the exam. These essays are graded by two scorers, given a rating in each of 4 categories, and then those numbers are added together and then scaled to arrive at a final score of 1-36. Confused? We can help end the confusion and make writing the essay on test day a straightforward exercise. While we don’t know the topic ahead of time for each test, we teach students to be ready for anything through methodically structuring their response to get the best scores across each of the 4 categories.
