College Essays

College essays in the student’s own voice.

One-on-one coaching from first idea to final polish — for the Common App essay and every supplement. We don’t write essays for students; we help students write essays only they could have written.

Why the essay matters more now

Specific, personal, unmistakably theirs.

With more colleges reinstating test requirements and application volumes still high, the essay is one of the few places a student speaks directly to an admissions reader. And in a world where anyone can generate a generic essay in thirty seconds, readers have gotten very good at spotting prose that sounds like everyone else’s. The essays that work are specific, personal, and unmistakably the student’s own — which is exactly what a coach helps a seventeen-year-old find and trust.

How it works

Brainstorm. Draft. Refine. Supplements.

Brainstorm

Structured exercises surface the stories worth writing about — usually not the ones the student expects.

Draft

The student writes; we guide. Structure, focus, and voice — every draft stays the student’s work.

Refine

Line-level polish that keeps the voice intact. We know what reads as over-edited.

Supplements

“Why this college?” and the short-answer pile, done efficiently.

Pre-reads and post-reads are always free. Send us a draft before a session or a “final” version after — we’ll read it at no charge.

Logistics & pricing

Most students need just 1–3 hours.

$175/hr

A dramatically better essay for $175–$525 — most students need 1–3 hours for the Common App essay; supplements vary by school list. One-on-one, in person (Wayne or Malvern) or virtual. Best to start the summer before senior year.

We coach; we never ghost-write. Colleges expect the essay to be the student’s own work, and so do we. What we bring is what a good editor brings any writer: better questions, honest feedback, and craft.
